Installing LNM Workstation from a Profile
Purpose & Scope

Procedure
Prepare a Windows XP Professional installation for duplication
- From the Start menu, click Run, and then type:
- cmd
- At the command prompt, change to the root folder of driveC, and then type:
- Cd c:\
- md sysprep
- Insert the WindowsXP Professional sp2 operating system CD into the appropriate CD-ROM drive. Extract the Deploy.cab file from the \Support\Tools folder to Sysprep folder.
- If you are have Sysprep.inf file, copy it to the Sysprep folder or use setupmgr.exe to create it . For Sysprep to function correctly, Sysprep.exe, Setupcl.exe, and Sysprep.inf must all be in the same folder.
- At the command prompt, change to the Sysprep folder by typing:
- cd sysprep
- At the command prompt, type:
- setupmgr.exe
- In the welcome screen click Next è choose Create a new answer file Click Next è Choose Sysprep Install Click Next è Choose Windows XP Professional Click Next è choose yes, Fully automate the installation click Next è complete the wizard
- At the command prompt, type:
- sysprep.exe -mini
- Make sure that MiniSetup is checked click on Reseal button
Creating an Image
- Boot from RIS boot disk; the Welcome dialog opens.
- Press <Enter> on your keyboard; the Thin Client dialog box opens.
- Press <F1> on your keyboard to continue; the Logon Information dialog box opens.
- enter a valid user name in the User Name field
- enter a valid password in the Password field.
- domain name is automatically retrieved from LNM and is displayed in the Domain Name field
- Press <Enter> to continue; the Setup Options dialog box opens.
- please select Learning Network Manager Tools and then press <Enter>; the Select Image Options dialog box opens
- Select the Create a Ghost Image option, and then press <Enter> to continue
- Enter the name of the new image, and then click OK
- Press <Enter> to continue; the image creation process begins.
- After the image creation is complete, a confirmation message is displayed telling you that the image is created.
- Press <Enter> To reboot
Note: Please note that this image is installed on LNM server
Adding a Workstation Profile
- In the LNM server open the LNM Management console
- Click on Workstation Profile Manager.
- Click the Add Profile
- In Deployment Method choose Other
- Choose the image file you created.
- Check the application you want to add. Note: the applications displayed here are added through the Application Library module.
- Specify whether you want to grant users access to the Floppy drive and the CD drive through the Allow Users Access section.
- Click the Save button
Create a Workstation from a Profile
- Boot the workstation from RIS boot disk the Welcome dialog opens.
- Press <Enter> on your keyboard; the Thin Client dialog box opens.
- Press <F1> on your keyboard to continue; the Logon Information dialog box opens.
- Please enter a valid user name in the User Name field.
- Please enter a valid password in the Password field.
- The domain name is automatically retrieved from LNM and is displayed in the Domain Name field.
- Press <Enter> to continue; the Setup Options dialog box opens.
- Select Learning Network Manager Tools, and then press <Enter>; the Select Image Options dialog box opens.
- Select the Restore Ghost Image option, and then press <Enter> to continue; a dialog box is displayed where you can select the image name.
- Select the name of the image, and then click Select Image Button.
The installation process will automatically proceed. After the image deployment is complete, a confirmation message is displ
